Where you dip your meat.
Japanese shabu shabu hot pot in Sagle, Idaho — a bubbling pot of broth, thinly sliced beef, and a table full of fresh vegetables, one night a week.
The Experience
One pot. Your call.
Every seat gets its own pot of simmering broth, a tray of thin-sliced beef rolled and ready to swish, a plate of farm vegetables — cabbage, mushrooms, squash, leafy greens — plus rice and our house dipping sauce.
How It Works
Swish. Dip. Eat. Repeat.
Shabu shabu is named for the sound the meat makes as you swish it through the broth. It takes about ten seconds to learn — and about fifty minutes to enjoy.
Pick your heat
Your pot of broth arrives already simmering. Start the vegetables first — they flavor the broth while they soften.
Swish the beef
Hold a slice of beef in the simmering broth and swish it back and forth. It's thinly sliced, so a few seconds is all it takes.
Dip and eat
Run it through the house dipping sauce, eat it over rice, and go again. Finish with the vegetables and the broth they've been simmering all along.
